1. Mahakal Jyotirlinga
Mahakaleshwar
Temple is another temple in the state of Madhya Pradesh that is dedicated to
the largely revered God - Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India
and is designed just as intricately as the other 11 are.
one
of the tips I would like to give is don't take your shoes with you otherwise
there is a lot of walking involved. remove your shoes with the vendors outside
so that you don't have to walk the whole way bac to collect them. or another
thing you can do is wear one of the disposables ones so that your socks don't
get spoiled and you can throw them out once you finished it.
2 Kal Bhairav Temple
Bhairav is a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva, and Kal Bhairava is the most important among the eight Bhairavas. If ancient scriptures are to be believed, Kal Bhairav temple is said to be related to the Tantra cult, a secret religious sect that thrived upon black
3. Bharat Mata Mandir.
Just
opposite Mahakal Mandir, there is a Bharat Mata Mandir. that is one of a kind.
I have never seen a Bharat Mata Temple before.
there
were many other temples but I visited just this two. some of the other places
to visit in Ujjain are following.
Harsiddhi
temple, Sandipan Rishi Ashram, Jantar Mantar are some of the other places which
are tourist attractions.
the
same day after we visited Ujjain we left for Mandav. The night stay was at
Mandav at MAndavgarh Residency.
we
had lunch at Mandav and after lunch, we visited a few places at Mandav.
Mandu
mesmerizes you for all the right reasons. It is indeed one magical destination
mostly preferred to be visited during Monsoon. However, when you set out on a
journey to a destination as beautiful as
Mandu, you tend to fall in love with its scenic beauty. This city is full of
heritage sites like Rani Roopmati Pavilion, Hoshang Shah's tomb, Baz Bahadur
Palace that makes it one of the popular tourist attractions in Madhya Pradesh.

Home
to numerous ancient afghan architectural marvels
Here
are some of the best places to visit in Mandu
Jahaz Mahal
The
splendid architecture of Jahaz Mahal occupies an expense in the Mandu region of
Madhya Pradesh. It was built during the reign of Mandu Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din
Khilji, who is believed to have as many as 15,000 women as his consorts. To
accommodate the women belonging to the royal consortium, Jahaz Mahal was built
in the second half of the 15th century. Jahaz Mahal best captures the medieval
history of Mundu. Here 'Jahaz' refers to a ship and 'Mahal' refers to a palace,
which is a reflection of the edifice itself. Surrounded by pond water, it seems
to be floating gently above the surface of the water.
The
architecture and structure of Jahaaz Mahal are both awe-inspiring and marvelous
in terms of its engineering. Emulating the appearance of a mighty ship, the
palace is an amalgam of Afghan, Mughal, Hindu, and Mesopotamian architecture
styles. It was built with a meticulous precision that followed acoustic water
supply patterns, subtly reflecting the pond that lies overlooking the palace.
The balconies are constructed in a way that amplifies sound such that
reverberates through the entire body of Jahaz Mahal. The intricate carvings,
precise engineering design, and pristine beauty along with its close proximity
to other tourist attractions such as Roopmati's Pavilion, Baz Bahadur's Palace,
Hindola Mahal, Jain Temple, and Jami Masjid make it one of the most important
tourist spots in the city.
be
sure to visit before 5 pm. every structure here requires at least 2 hours. so
take your time and visit Mandav. If I would have known I would have planned 2
days in Mandav.
Rani Rupmati's Pavilion
If
history is to be believed, this building was erected because Rani Rupmati, a
very beautiful Hindu singer had supposedly caught the interest of Baz Bahadur.
So,
Baz Bahadur using all his clout and wealth built this magnificent piece of
architecture to showcase his love for her. It is constructed on the banks of
river Narmada because it is believed that Rani Rupmati was so much in awe of
the river that she would not even drink water unless she saw the Narmada river.
This place is still squeaky clean as the earlier times.
Jami Masjid
This
giant red-stone mosque is visible even from a few kilometers away, thanks to
the dominating architectural techniques used by Hoshang Shah who has sought
encouragement to build this monument from the 'Omayyed Mosque' in Damascus,
Syria.
Unfortunately,
Hoshang Shah could not see the monument before its completion as it lasted a
long 49 years and was completed under Mohammed Khilji. Despite its simplicity,
it is considered to be the finest and largest example of Afghan architecture in
India.
Baz Bahadur's Palace
Legend
has it that this splendid architectural wonder was constructed for the last
independent leader of Mandu, Baz Bahadur much before he came into power in the
year 1509.
Surprisingly, the edifice does not only display Islamic architectural styles but it also boasts of designs inspired from Rajasthani trends.
Hindola Mahal, Mandu
Hindola
Mahal in Mandu is a very popular tourist attraction which means Swinging Palace
as per its English translation. The grandeur of the Durbar halls can be seen in
the opulent palace which served as a royal court to Ghiyas-al-Din Sultan during
his reign. It perfectly portrays the Malwa-Sultanate architecture. The
innovative structure of the sculpture combined with the superb technique
attracts thousands of tourists to pay a visit every year. The Mahal was
constructed from sandstone with exquisitely carved columns with the provision
of hot and cold water connected with the rooms situated underground.
Hindol
Mahal is now a T-shaped building that is being used as an audience hall or an
open-air theatre. It is believed to have been constructed in 1425 under the reign
of Hoshang Shah but was later modified to what it currently is under the rule
of Ghiyasuddin Khilji in the 15th century. The simplicity of its architecture
is what separated it from the rest of the monuments. Munj Talao which is a
collection of ruined monuments covers the Hindola Mahal in the north and
provides a fantastic tour to people who are interested in archives. It is a
truly perfect place for someone who loves history and royal architecture. The
exquisite beauty and the scenic beauty of the place are worth visiting.
Ashrafi Mahal
Initially
built with the idea of promoting education, this edifice was a school before
its builder Mahmud Shah Khilji decided to extend it and make it his very own
empire.
Due
to incompetent architectural designs, this building could not withstand for
long and soon collapsed. It hasn't been rehabilitated since then and it now
stands amidst ruins. The complicated carvings can still be seen on the top of
the stairway.
Hoshang Shah's Tomb,
Largely
regarded as the oldest marble edifice in India, this architectural phenomenon
has been said to have influenced Shah Jahan by leaps and bounds.
It
is also said that Shah Jahan had sent his workmen and Ustad Hamid to inspect
the structural site and draw inspiration from it to build his marvel - The Taj
Mahal. The crescent that is crowned on the top of the tomb is considered to
have been imported from Mesopotamia or Persia.
Kakra Khoh waterfall, Mandu
situated about 633.7 m above the sea level is
separated from the main plateau of Malwa by a deep gorge called Kakra Khoh.
This is a beautiful waterfall flowing through the ravine. Amazing Place to
visit during Monsoon. when I visited there was not any water.
few
places that I didn't visit but are worth mentioning are Champa Baoli, Lohani
Caves, Hathi Mahal, Jali Mahal, Sarai caravan, echo point, sunset point.
Day 2 . Mandu to Maheshwar And then
Sailani Resort Island
in the
morning we visited Jahaj Mahal. and left Mandu Around 12 noon for Maheshwar.
it
took around 2 and half hour to reach Maheshwar.
Maheshwar
Maheshwar
is a town in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh state, in central India. It is
located on State Highway-38,13.5 km east of National Highway 3 and 91 km from
Indore, the commercial capital of the state. The Town lies on the north bank of
the Narmada River. it is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga. it is situated along the
banks of Narmada and it has one of the most amazing ancient carvings I have
seen.
After
visiting Maheshvar we left for Sailani Island. Sailani Island Resort.
SCENIC SAILANI ISLAND
Situated
on the bank of River Narmada and Omkareshwar Dam in Khandwa district, Sailani
Island near Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga shrine offers a tranquil break to visitors
with accommodations at the Sailani Island Resort. The place is spread over
5-acres of land and is surrounded by the holy Narmada water on three sides.
The
secluded island is away from all the hustle and bustle of the city and is
packed with natural beauty and water activities. Apart from spending some
quality and peaceful time at the lavish resort, one can always try out exciting
water-based recreational activities such as speed boating, skurfing, paddle
boating and cruising available at the destination.
Developed
on the banks of the Narmada, the atoll is the best choice to spend holidays in
a soothing and rejuvenating environment! This is one of the most unique and
incomparable water sports tourist destinations in Madhya Pradesh which provides
a relaxing yet adventurous escape for vacationers
Day 3 Omkareshwar to Indore. Night
stay Indore.
after
check out from Sailani Island Resort We left for Omkareshwar Temple.
OMKARESHWAR
It
can only be termed as a blessing by the lords and mother nature, that
Omkareshwar, the sacred island, is shaped like Om - the holiest symbol of
Hinduism. It is adorned with lofty hills, between which the river Narmada forms
a serene pool.
A
cantilever type bridge running over river Narmada. It is a 270 ft. hanging
bridge that enhances the beauty of Omkareshwar.
Out
of the major places to visit in Omkareshwar, the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga shrine
tops the list. Popularly known as 'Omkar Mandhata', it is one of the 12
Jyotirlinga shrines in India. Pilgrims in unimaginable numbers visit the shrine
every year, seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Apart
from the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple, the three-story Gauri Somnath Temple
which is built in the shape of a peahen is also a place to see. Joining the
list are Mahakaleshwar temple, Ashapuri temple, Siddhanath temple, Khedapati
Hanuman temple, Rinmukteshwar temple, Mamleshwar temple, Kashi Vishwanath
temple and Kedareshwar temple. The colourful ghats, rippling Narmada and
divinity that reside in this town gives you many reasons to visit Omkareshwar
once.
We
left for Indore after visiting Omkareshwar and reach Indore around 5 pm.
